This multi-lane reconstruction project primarily consists of widening Interstate-10 (State Road 8) from four (4) travel lanes to six (6) travel lanes from east of Davis Highway(State Road 291) to Scenic Highway (State Road 10A/US 90). The widening will occur to the inside in the median. The roadway typical section will consist of three twelve (12) foot lanes in each direction, paved inside and outside shoulders, and a forty (40) foot median. There is 300-foot of right-of-way throughout the project limits along the Interstate. The mainline widening will occur within the existing right-of-way by reducing the grassed median from 64 to 40-foot. The reduction in the median width will require installation of concrete barrier wall for the entire length of the project. The existing travel lanes and paved shoulders will be milled and resurfaced as a part of this project. The project length is 2.7 miles.

As part of the improvements to Interstate 10, the Scenic Highway Interchange will be enhanced. The two (2) existing signalized intersections formed at the interstate ramp termini will be reconstructed. The Scenic Highway Bridge (BR480121) will be replaced and widened. Bicycle and pedestrian features will be constructed along Scenic Highway within the project limits. Additional right-of-way within the project limits will be required to construct the storm water facilities and modifications to Scenic Highway.
